Clinical Trials

Discover our clinical trials section in Hebrew

At Hadassah Medical Organization approximately 1,300 clinical trials are currently in progress. Part of the trials are conducted in cooperation with commercial companies sponsoring the trials while most are initiated by the researchers.

Clinical trials encompass all research that is done in humans i.e. in a clinical setting. Studies in humans are paramount as they answer specific questions about biomedical or behavioral actions for new treatments like novel vaccines and drugs, dietary choices and supplements, or medical devices. Also known interventions often require further studies and comparisons to ensure optimal results in humans. Some clinical trials involve healthy subjects with no pre-existing medical conditions while other clinical trials pertain to patients with specific health conditions who are willing to try an experimental treatment.

Clinical trials generate data on both safety and efficacy and are always conducted only after they have received health authority/ethics committee approval at the Helsinki Committee. This Committee is responsible for examining the risk versus benefit ratio of the trial – it's approval does not mean that the therapy is 'safe' or effective, only that the trial may be conducted.

Hadassah Clinical Research Center (HCRC)

Clinical trials are conducted in a series of steps, called phases, where each phase is designed to answer a separate research question. The Hadassah Clinical Research Center (HCRC) performs clinical trials in both familiar and rare diseases that cover the full range of phases 1 (a study on a new drug or treatment) to 4 (a study on a drug after it has been put to market). The HCRC has consistently shown its capacity for successful clinical trials by managing complicated protocols as well as recruiting a large number of participants within a short timeframe.

The following list contains our selected clinical trial protocols across different phases.
