The European Society for Virology is a non-profit organization that provides a forum for scientists active in all aspects of Virology. The aim of the Society is to promote and stimulate the exchange of information and collaboration among individual scientists as well as among national and international associations of Virology throughout Europe. The society organizes congresses and courses, offers fellowships and promotes education in Virology at all levels, and represents the science, art and profession of Virology to governmental and regulatory institutions of the European Union, the media and the general public.
As a member of the Advisory Council, Professor Wolf will have an ongoing role in participating in all meetings of the Executive Board in an advisory capacity covering the following responsibilities:
Preparing for and convening Meetings of Members
Passing resolutions on the acceptance of members
Representing the Society’s interests in public, towards national and international authorities
Advice of funding agencies and political institutions of the European Union
In a personal letter to Professor Wolf from the President, Prof. Dr. Giorgio Palù and Secretary General, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Fleckenstein, it was announced that the Society’s voting results were decisively in Professor Wolf’s favour, with an excellent participation rate of 46.5%. Professor Wolf said she was thrilled with her newly elected role, explaining “the Society adds great value to international research and collaborations, bringing together all Virologists across Europe.” She went on to say she “is proud to represent Hadassah and contribute to its International reputation.” Professor Eyal Mishani, Head of the entire Research and Development Department at Hadassah was quick to congratulate Professor Wolf, emphasizing what “an asset she is to Hadassah.”
The result of this pre-election will be formally announced at the Assembly of Members on October 21, 2016, during the 6th European Congress of Virology in Hamburg, Germany.
